Set up your first filtered catalog
Four steps take a WooCommerce store from installing WPXFacets to a page where shoppers filter products. Each step links to the full instructions in the documentation.
Access during the private pilot
Public checkout is closed while we complete the private pilot. The plugin download, license key and token come from your WPXFacets account. To ask about access, contact us; current plans are listed under Pricing.
Install the plugin and activate your license
Your account holds the plugin ZIP and the license that connects this store to WPXFacets.
- Sign in at My Account and open Dashboard. Download the plugin ZIP from there.
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add Plugin, click Upload Plugin, install the ZIP and activate it.
- In the License key & token card of your account, click Copy beside Key and beside Token. The token stays masked on the website; Copy copies its full value.
- Go to XFacets → Settings, open License, paste the values into License key and License token, then click Activate License.
Full instructions: Install the Plugin and Activate Your License.
Connect Elasticsearch, or keep WP Query
WP Query is the default: it filters directly on your WordPress database, needs no managed environment and sends nothing to Elasticsearch. If you keep it, go to step 3. To use the managed Elasticsearch environment from your subscription:
- Go to XFacets → Elastic Server and open Connection. Under Environment / Index slot, choose your environment and click Use environment. There is no Elasticsearch URL, user or password to enter.
- Go to XFacets → Settings, open General, set WooCommerce Products to Elastic search and click Save Changes.
Full instructions: Connect the Managed Environment and Choose the Query Engine.
Index the catalog and set up the filters
Elasticsearch needs one full index of your products before filters return complete results. With WP Query there is nothing to index; start with the filters.
- With Elastic search only: go to XFacets → Sync, click Full Re-index and confirm. Keep wp-admin open until Re-index complete appears.
- Go to XFacets → Filters. The site’s Filters start with six facets: Search, Categories, Price, Rating, In stock only and On sale.
- Click Add new facet for any other filter your shoppers need, choose its source and type, and click Save. Drag facets to change their order.
Full instructions: Run Your First Sync, Build Your Filters and Facets.
Add the filters to a page and check the result
Place the filters and the product results on the same page, with these shortcodes or the equivalent XFacets blocks:
[xfacets_filter_form]
[xfacets_search_results]
Put them in two columns for a sidebar-and-grid layout and publish the page. Open it as a shopper, select a few filters and check that the results and the product count change. Display on the Storefront lists every shortcode, block and attribute.
Ask about your store setup
Tell us about your catalog and theme. Technical setup questions go straight to the people who build WPXFacets.
